Wrap Q+A

What's so good about beeswax wraps?

~These wraps can completely eliminate the need for single use plastic bags and cling wrap. Not only will it save you money, it's also earth friendly. Beeswax is naturally antimicrobial and mildly breathable. These two things will keep your food fresher for longer!

How do I care for my wraps?

~It’s super easy! You simply use mild soap and cold water. You can use a non-abrasive hand towel if you wish, I just use my hands. Just be sure to use cold water, as you don't want the wax to melt. Leave them on the counter to dry.

How do they work exactly?

~You know how cling wrap just sort of sticks to the surface? These wraps work similarly. The resin in the wraps cause them to have a very mild stickiness that is activated by the warmth of your hands. So when you’re covering a bowl you use both hands to push the wrap around the sides. This creates the seal! I also like to wrap single items as well. For instance, I use the 6 inch round option to wrap the half of the lemon I don't use. I just wrap it around and then hold it in my hands for a second!

How long do they last?

~Wraps can last up to 1 year. If your wrap needs a little facelift around the 4-6 month mark, simply lay it on a pan with parchment paper. Pop it in the oven at 300 degrees for about 2 minutes. Just be aware that you could lose a small amount of the wax mixture onto your parchment paper.

Does a machine make the wraps?

~No! All wraps are handmade! Since our wraps are made by a human, you may notice some very slight variations in size and exact shape! So every wrap is unique!

What are they made out of?

~All wraps are made out of 100% cotton fabric, White beeswax, Pine resin, and organic Jojoba Oil

What can I store in them?

~Honestly, Pretty much anything. I would not use your wraps for raw meats. Also onions, since the wraps are breathable I prefer my whole fridge not to smell like an onion.

How do I dispose of my wraps?

~Once you feel your wrap has run its lifespan you can simply compost. My husband likes to roll them into a ball and use them as a fire starter!

Anything else to be aware of?

~Beeswax wraps are flammable. For your safety, keep wraps a safe distance away from open fires and heat sources. Wraps pose a potential choking hazard, please keep out of reach of children and pets. Heat can melt your wraps. Do not put them in microwave, oven or other heat sources.
